Job Duties | Morgan State University (MSU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. School of Engineering (SOE). Morgan State University is located in the city of Baltimore and is the preeminent, public urban research university in the state of Maryland, MSU plays a vital role providing educational opportunities for state residents, for students nation-wide and for the international community. As a member of the HBCU community, SOE is committed to providing educational opportunities for people of color. Reporting to Dean Oscar Barton, Jr. and working collaboratively with SOE’s leadership, the chair will define a vision that will chart new areas of opportunity for the department and will provide the leadership and an entrepreneurial spirit necessary to achieve them. The chair will manage all operations of the department including those related to its offered programs, for its faculty, for its staff and those related to budget and finance. This 12-month, tenured faculty appointment is at the rank of full professor. The chair is the academic and administrative officer for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering with responsibilities that include but are not limited to the following:
