At BHN, you can help develop and provide new healthcare-based services to support survivors of domestic abuse.

Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Phone-Based Domestic Violence Advocate in the Domestic Violence Services program at Behavioral Health Network!

 

Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the Domestic Violence Services program with the following:

  • Serving as a key component to local community response to Domestic Violence in this rural region of Massachusetts.
  • Providing short-term victim support and crisis intervention via phone call as well as in the police office in certain circumstances.
  • Offering problem solving and referrals to community services for survivors of domestic violence.
  • Offering education about the dynamics of abuse.
  • Providing safety planning and risk assessments, emotional support, and case management.
  • Being specially trained for this position.
  • Being immediately available to respond following a domestic violence incident.

Through BHN’s variety of Domestic Violence programs, we offer supportive individual and group services to help those who feel unsafe in their intimate partnerships or are questioning the health of their dating or partner relationships. This position is a sub-grant through the Northwestern District Attorney's office.

Job Requirements:

What are we looking for in a Domestic Violence Advocate?

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (preferred).
  • At least one year of experience within the field of human services, mental health, social services, or case management (required).
  • At least one year of experience working survivors of domestic or sexual violence (preferred).
  • At least 30 hours of Domestic Violence Advocacy/Sexual Assault training (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license.
