These TLT positions are located within the Ecological Restoration and Engineering Services (ERES) Unit. Primary focus of work is on feasibility and preliminary design of several projects that were funded via a SWM rate increase. These positions will perform engineering duties on assigned projects related to the SWM rate increase; conduct river and hydraulic engineering design and technical analyses; conduct field investigations and assessments of river, floodplain, stream, and wetland conditions; gather engineering data and related information necessary to scope and develop technical studies; and help develop and monitor scopes of work, tasks and budgets for technical consulting contracts.
DURATION: These term-limited temporary positions are expected to last three years.
WHO MAY APPLY: This recruitment will be used to fill two positions. This recruitment is only open to employees in the Department of Natural Resources and Parks. If a successful applicant is a King County Career Service employee, this position will be offered as a special duty assignment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to conduct physical site inspections and evaluation, including in times of inclement weather conditions. There is often a need to walk on uneven terrain for extended periods of time. Field conditions include brushy, forested environments; river, stream and wetland corridors; and slippery, uneven surfaces and adverse outdoor weather conditions. Work tasks also may include in-water situations involving wading and the use of rafts or canoes.
