Job Description

The Electrophysiology lab has four dedicated labs on 3 MHC and is part of the Cath Ep lab. In the EP lab we care for patients who have cardiac arrythmias. Our patients receive Pacemakers, Internal Defibrillators, or Ablations to correct their arrythmia. Nurses are often drawn to the Ep lab who have a love for cardiac and procedural type nursing. We are a small team of 21 and collaborate with each other and our eight physicians, on a daily basis, to provide excellent care and outcomes for our patients. Working in the EP lab will give you an in-depth knowledge of the heart. Nurses will also gain knowledge in administering conscious sedation to our patients to keep them comfortable during their procedure.

Summary

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Basic Qualifications

• Associate's Degree Nursing - Required
• Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing must be obtained within 5 years for those who start in this RN role on or after January 1, 2017 (SH Grand Rapids) - Required
• Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing must be obtained within 7 years for those who start in this RN role between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2016 (SH Grand Rapids) - Required
• Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program - Required
• Registered Nurse (RN) License in State of Michigan - Required Upon Hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 days
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Required within 180 days
