Position Summary:  

To provide strategic guidance, at the direction of the MidAmerica CFO, via the development, management, and deployment of analytical tools and capabilities with the goal of projecting, understanding, and/or quantifying volume, revenue and quality impacts due to shifts in such things as market demographics, delivery system redesign, quality initiatives and healthcare reform.  Provide analytical guidance to service line VPs and Directors that will facilitate development of strategies around volume and net revenue growth, as well as improvement in quality and patient experience scores.  Possess a high-level understanding of healthcare data and systems and the ability to think strategically and offer innovative solutions to the complex challenges facing both the Company specifically and the healthcare industry in general.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the analytics team by enhancing their development and learning to ensure quality of results and achievement of strategic vision.
  • Oversee the department delivery of the daily, monthly, quarterly, and/or yearly reporting, including but not limited to the MidAmerica Leadership team, Facilities, Corporate DSS/OSG/CGS and/or external reporting entities.
  • Ensure that all quality controls, required processes, and available strategic analytical tools are accurate and functional.
  • Participate in the successful coordination of team members to support the implementation of analytics with Division and Facility (Os, VPs, AVPs, and Directors).
  • Ensure that all required processes and available strategic analytical tools will be deployed in order to (a) maximize volume growth/yield (e.g., Net Revenue, Net Revenue per Adjusted Admission, Contribution Margin, etc.), and (b) improve quality and patient experience scores.
  • Participate in strategic development initiatives as assigned by the President, CFO, CMO, and Controller, including but not limited to such things as Strategic Planning, NGG Plans, subject-specific task forces, etc.
  • Develop relationships with corporate leaders and participate in Company-wide teams to secure a more robust view of company activity and data needs.
  • Determine meaningful and pertinent questions to be posed and answered to facilitate analytical tools used for business opportunity identification and associated decision making.
  • Proactively identify potential reporting needs, define universe of questions/concerns, engage key stakeholders in gathering criteria, and determine appropriate data sources and tools to use in analyzing scenarios.
  • Identify, develop, and manage analytics in support of MidAmerica’s projects and mission/objectives, including but not limited to growth & revenue analytics, quality initiatives, and nursing initiatives.
  • Responsible for the periodic methodology review and refresh of data of such tools.
  • Manage and achieve a multitude of objectives simultaneously in an effective manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the President, CFO, CMO, Controller, and VPs, including ad-hoc analysis to understand current trends.
  • Practice and adhere to HCA’s mission and values statement and code of conduct, and attend all required ethics and compliance training and retraining.

Qualifications

  • College Graduate Required 
  • 5+ Year of Relational Database experience (SQL Server, Teradata, etc.)

  • 3+ Years of Reporting Software experience (Business Objects, Qlikview, Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc.)
