Endoscopy Technicians perform high quality Endoscopy procedures, focusing on patient care and education.  Support and help achieve departmental goals.  Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and or physicians in Endoscopy.
  • Assist with the assessment of patient needs and follows through with the designated plan of care.
  • Responsible for the care, handling and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedural room.
  • Responsible for assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD), colonoscopy, GI bleeds, food bolus, foreign body removal, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), esophageal biopsy, esophageal dilatation, stenting of the esophagus, duodenum, colon, bile and pancreatic ducts, HALO procedures, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), argon plasma cautery and cytology.
  • Prepare, position, transfer and inform patients.
  • Document and maintain records of examinations/procedures.
  • Perform assigned room cleanup tasks including disposal, cleaning, inventory and restocking of supplies and equipment.
  • Perform all assigned IS transactions to ensure that accurate patient and exam/procedure information is recorded in a timely fashion for the patient medical record and billing purposes.
  • Applies knowledge of growth and development in patient interactions and treatment.
  • Collect, prepare and label specimens during procedures.
  • Participate in inservice and continuing education as scheduled. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

 
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration:  Certification of Scope processing is preferred.
  • Education:  High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience:  Patient care experience, preferably in Endoscopy.  One year of  Endoscopy experience is preferred.
  • Special qualifications:  Must be able to successfully complete established competencies for the position within designated probationary period.  Current CPR certification required.
  • Work Schedule:  Full-time - Monday-Friday(7:00 am-3:30 pm) w/required call
