Work Location: In-person: King County Courthouse, Seattle, WA. 


Work Schedule:  
This position works a 40 hour work week schedule. Our core business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position is eligible for King County’s generous benefits package and is covered by the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.  

Salary:  Range 38
(Step One) $24.71 -  (Step Ten) $31.32 Hourly*
$1,976.64 - $2,505.50 Biweekly
$51,392.64 - $65,143.10 Annually 


Union Membership: 
Positions in this classification are represented by Teamsters Local No. 117.

*Employees with less than 2 years of service will receive .25 per hour less than the hourly salary table due to a mandatory contribution toward the Teamsters Pension Trust that was voted by members of Teamsters Local No. 117.   
 
 

Job Duties

  • Perform clerical duties in support of the Victim Assistance, Special Assault and Domestic Violence Units.  
  • Receive callers in person and by phone; take care of their needs; provide status updates according to PAO policy;  or refer them to the appropriate person or agency.
  • Act as a liaison between the court, police officers, victims, witnesses, DPA's, community partners, and other agencies.  
  • Read criminal cases, with an attention to detail, to determine victim information; annotate information into PBK; produce and distribute victim notification packets and other letters.
  • Monitor and process victim letters, packets, and NCOs assigned through PbK queues
  • Manage, distribute and scan a large volume of US mail, emails and faxes.
  • Manage E-560 office equipment, including computer, fax, copier and printers 
  • Process SOSA reports
  • Process SAU Declines
  • Complete DV Info Net reporting
  • Provide administrative duties for U-VISA processing
  • Provide administrative duties for TAD and CDP Loss Recovery
  • Provide support to Restitution Investigators with additional PbK entry and other duties, as assigned.
  • Maintain and update VAU Reception Manual
  • Monitor and stock DV/SAU/VAU supply room
  • Help with training of new VAU personnel
  • Additional responsibilities and/or tasks may be incorporated or existing ones modified as business needs evolve.  
  • Actively participate in PAO equity work, attending equity trainings and discussions, including but not limited to, Intro to Cultural Competency, Implicit Bias and Microaggressions, White Privilege/Fragility.  Provide support for the Equity and Social Justice policy and principles, work with PAO colleagues and management to identify opportunities for improvement.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • This position requires excellent customer service skills and strong computer skills 
  • Customer service skills both in person and via telephone (discretion, patience, etiquette, professionalism) 
  • Ability to exercise courtesy, sensitivity and good-judgment with individuals who have been harmed by crime from a variety of backgrounds.  
  • Skill in responding in a positive, mature, empathetic and helpful manner to various individuals having diverse backgrounds and concerns.
  • Skill to work independently and follow through on given assignments, as well as be  part of a team and interact appropriately
  • Advance organizational skills and the ability to complete a variety of tasks in an accurate manner with frequent interruptions. 
  • Advance skill in using computers and the ability to become proficient in the use of database programs such as PbK, Info-Net, SAW, JABS, KC Script (with training), Word, Excel, and Adobe Pro  
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions, and to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Skill in answering a multi-line telephone system
  • Ability to learn and manage repair for office equipment including printers, computer and copy machine 
  • Demonstrated predictable, reliable, and timely attendance
  • Ability to learn from directions, observations, and mistakes, and apply procedures using good judgment; ability and willingness to accept supervision, coaching and feedback.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with co-workers, management, attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement and the public
  • Strong commitment to Equity and Social Justice work including ongoing cultural competence development
