Coordinator of Equity and Inclusion 10 month position Start date August 25, 2021 $70,000 annual salary and excellent benefits package Newtown Public Schools is undergoing a journey to create a community where all young people and adults experience belonging. The district is aware that equity and inclusion are prerequisites for belonging and are committed to addressing issues of bullying, racism, harassment, and systemic inequity. Newtown believes that deep, trusting relationships between all members of the community are crucial to creating sustainable and systemic change. The Coordinator of Equity and Inclusion will act as the liaison to students, parents, and staff to ensure their voices are centered in the creation of equitable policies, procedures, and practices. In the first year, the position will be expected to establish relationships within the school community, advise leadership teams on best practice for addressing instances of inequity, and conduct a district equity assessment. Thereafter, the position will be charged with utilizing the findings of their audit to create, implement, and maintain a strategic and sustainable plan to address systemic inequity.
