Job Duties: Work with customers to solve technical problems and provide cost effective solutions for Gearing and Gearboxes. Perform mechanical design and material strength calculation according to ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) and AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association). Work with AutoCAD to process written, verbal, and measured information and creating manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD tools. Prepare and provide manufacturing drawings to factory and vendors. Determine manufacturing processes, identify materials, tooling, and supplies required and process for efficient and timely results. Use Mastercam to prepare CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) programs for turning, milling and drilling operations. Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods. Work with Production and Assembly Staff to continually improve tooling, fixturing, and lubrication resources to enhance shop-floor efficiencies. Define manufacturing problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to resolve the problems. Process quotations from customer inquiries or samples. Use micrometers and calipers to reverse engineer customer-supplied samples for quoting and manufacturing purposes. Process quotations from customer inquiries and/ or samples by creating estimates using E2 Shoptech ERP System. Prepare gearbox inspection and evaluation reports identifying discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and provide optimum solutions. Prepare technical job requirements for materials and review materials and hardness certificates for product acceptance. Analyze non-destructive testing (NDT) results such as Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant testing, and Ultra-sonic Inspection on products to evaluate properties of material and strength on the products. Conduct reverse engineering of Gearbox Components (gears, shafts, bearings, seals, housing etc.). Create cost effective solutions when unexpected circumstances arise. Develop and maintain Quality Management System (ISO and Lean Manufacturing) for continuous improvement and excellence. Use of AutoCAD, CNC programming, skills in design and analysis, and GD&T.
Requirements: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years in a related occupation including Materials Engineer or related experience. Position requires 2 years of experience with reverse engineering of gearbox components (gears, shafts, bearings, etc.), AGMA calculations, AutoCAD, and E2 Shoptech. 40hrs/week.
