Job Summary:

The RN Procedure Scheduler is an individual who, with appropriate experience, can enhance the clerical/clinical functions of the GI clinic. This individual will take responsibility for processing procedure orders placed daily by physicians in the GI clinic.  This individual will primarily provide education, schedule procedures, communicate with patients, and make sure a proper insurance authorization is in place.  This individual will also be responsible (as time allows when primary tasks are completed) for backing up clinic nurse responsibilities including checking in patients, educating patients, answering phones, coordinating interpreter services, and any additional services required for clinic patients. Provides patient friendly service graciously, efficiently, and confidentially.   The main focus of the RN procedure scheduler is to schedule endoscopic procedures at University Hospital, Community Upstate Hospital, and at University Gastroenterology at the Philip G. Holtzapple Endoscopy Center with proper time allotments as designate by the physician and based on location.

Candidate must be capable of communicating with various types of people; excellent organizational skills; clerical background; familiar with a variety of office machines & equipment; must be able to multi task; will be required to attend mandatory training and staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered RN. Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in an outpatient practice with Gastroenterology patients preferred.

Work Days:

Monday through Friday daytime hours
