Description


 
Boulder County Transportation Department's Road Maintenance Division is hiring up to three (3) Seasonal Road Workers to perform a variety of duties in support of the maintenance of County roads. The Maintenance Division maintains approximately 700 miles of roadway. 50 percent of roadways are gravel and the remainder are asphalt. The County stretches from the plains, at an elevation of 5,280 feet, to the Continental Divide, at an elevation near 14,000 feet.

These are seasonal, non-benefited positions with Boulder County. Work hours will be Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. The positions are expected to end in September 2018.  The Road Workers will report to work in Longmont, CO.

Hourly wage: $15.67

  1. Flagging and directing traffic for road maintenance projects
  2. Performing various manual labor duties
  3. Operating light duty trucks
  4. Using various tools
  5. Performing related duties, as required

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION:
  • A high school diploma, or equivalent
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Applicants will be required to take and pass a pre-employment physical prior to starting work

DRIVER'S LICENSE:
  • Employee must have a valid driver's license
 

Supplemental Information


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with flagging and road maintenance activities
  • CDOT Flagger Certification 

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequently lifts up to 50 lbs. and carries up to 100 feet (may be performed by two person
lift); occasionally lifts up to 100 lbs. from floor to knuckle and up to 50 lbs. from knuckle to
shoulder (may be performed by two person lift); frequently lifts up to 32 lbs. from shoulder
to overhead; occasionally pushes and pulls items weighing up to 100 lbs.; frequently lifts
and lowers wheelbarrow with 160 lbs. load; occasionally performs bi-lateral lift of 100 lbs.
and carries up to 30 ft.; frequently lifts up to 35 lbs. from waist level and lowers to floor;
frequently lifts up to 25 lbs. from chest to overhead. Frequently bends at waist, squats,
kneels, shovels, and rakes. Occasionally walks over uneven terrain.
