Functions

Work with the Test Manager to ensure all Operations & Deck tests and validations are fully accomplished on the program, in support of schedule, cost, and performance requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Because the company is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.

Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Support the HM&E Test Manager in the execution of a robust total ship test program including, but not limited to, development of test processes and procedures for all Operations & Deck areas, including interfaces to other Shipboard Systems, including Controls. Shall develop test reports, to include shipboard operational, Dock Trials, Builders Sea Trials, and Navy INSURV acceptance trials.
Shall be able to work as Test Lead for assigned systems, and ability to lead the production team thru the installation check-out, grooming, and system operation of assigned systems. Be able to demonstrate proper operation of equipment and systems to USCG and INSURV.
Work with Production, QA, Engineering, and Test to ensure 100% corrective actions within the assigned areas, are done for taking all trial cards and deficiencies in test and QA and correcting them in hulls under construction.
Work with the Test Manager to de-conflict competing priorities during all Testing and Activation projects to deliver results within financial and schedule specifications. Support the Test Manager in production, test, launch, and trials Readiness Reviews within assigned area.
Support the Test Manager during Pre and Post Sea Trials meetings within the assigned area.
Support Test Manager in coordinating with Engineering and Project Management to ensure that the shipyard testing strategy is being followed in assigned areas.
Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.

Reporting Relationship

This position will report to the HM & E Test Manager.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Three or more years’ experience shipboard testing, developing procedures, performing test validation, verifying pre-requisites, and documentation into deliverable test reports. Should be knowledgeable in operations of following systems, at a minimum, anchor windlass, capstans, boat davits, cranes, JP-5, aircraft facilities, etc. Previous ship construction and test, or USCG/USN Service, with shipboard mechanical and electrical experience, preferred. Experience developing test procedures using ABS NVR is highly desired. Must be able to quickly understand basic system operation and integration with Controls Systems. Must be able to effectively troubleshoot issues and failures. Experience with integration of a test program into Program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), starting with design through fabrication, construction, and delivery preferred.

Skills:

Intermediate-level Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook experience. Working knowledge of various web-based design and collaboration tools desired. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Company policies/procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to interpret contract requirements, specifications, and drawings into a comprehensive test program. Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines. Ability to effectively present information, brief presentations, and respond to questions from senior management, employees, government officials, and the public. Effective written and verbal communication skills are required. Ability to forge and sustain outstanding client relationships while managing multiple workstreams. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and have attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and as part of the project team while exercising diplomacy and tact. Ability to rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data for distillation into high-level reports.

This job will operate in multiple environments, including a professional office environment, and Shipboard during the production, outfit, test, and delivery phases of each Ship. Employees must be able to work in a ship production environment, including climbing, entering tanks and voids, etc., in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
