BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE: 

We are looking for a qualified school nurse to manage an assigned team of nurses providing effective guidance and support to the nursing department. The team leader will be responsible for overseeing, managing, and motivating team members. This is a stipend position for work done during and outside of the scheduled workday.

As a team leader, you will be the contact point for all team members, so effective communication skills and knowledge of the school nurse role are a must. You should also be able to act proactively to ensure smooth team dynamics and effective collaboration. Ultimately, the team leader should lead by setting a good example and engage the team to achieve goals.

Responsibilities

• Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
• Set clear team goals aligning with department & district goals.
• Delegate tasks and set deadlines.
• Implement operations of extended day meetings two times a month
• Attend monthly meetings with nurse administration before or after scheduled workday.
• Monitor team performance and report on metrics as requested.
• Motivate team members.
• Discover training needs and provide coaching.
• Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts.
• Recognize high performance of team members.
• Encourage creativity.
• Suggest and organize activities to meet team goals, projects, and initiatives.
• Communicate any issues to nursing administration.
• Support the orientation of new nurses into school nursing through peer training and mentoring.

Requirements and skills

• Licensed school nurse, professional license preferred
• Knowledge of performance metrics
• Good PC skills, especially in Microsoft, Teams, and zoom.
• Excellent communication skills
• Organizational and time-management skills
• Decision-making skills
