The responsibilities of this classification include performing a variety of different tasks in support of the daily operations of the Court. Primary work assignments will be providing support in numerous divisions within the Court Operations Department.  Incumbent maintains databases and performs a wide range of support duties where needed within the department.

 Work location
:  This position is based at the King County Courthouse, 516 Third Avenue, Seattle, Washington.  The incumbent may be required to work at other facilities as assigned.
 
 Work schedule and terms
:  This at-will Term-Limited Temporary position is hourly (overtime-eligible) and subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.  This position works a 35-hour work week schedule. The workweek for this position is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  This position is eligible for benefits.

Job Duties

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:  The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level:

  • Analyze and interpret reports and applications necessary to manage pending cases.

  • Research specialized or technical information. Provide general and detailed information to internal and external customers. May provide training on procedural matters and may make formal presentations. 

  • Notify parties of case status; explain various legal programs, policies and procedures and ramifications for non-compliance. Research and interpret policies, procedures, state and local court rules, statutes and other relevant sources to provide program-specific information relating to technical services to customers. 
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned. Identify priority and/or time-sensitive matters. 
  • Coordinate calendar coverage, work with court volunteers and provide administrative support to judicial officers.

  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Must have at least one year of experience in court processes. Associate's degree and three years' work experience in court procedures and processes is preferred. Independent judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality are required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Must be flexible and able to deal with competitive demands and high volume workload. Experience working with a diverse population and dealing with difficult customers is required. Must be proficient with various computer software applications including Microsoft Office programs. Must have the ability to handle sensitive case information in a fast paced court environment.

Supplemental Information

Special requirements:  Finalists must have successfully passed a criminal background check and reference check.  Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license or be able to travel throughout the County by alternate means.
