The jobholder has responsibility for developing, organizing, conducting, assessing, and revising recruitment activities through Admissions & Recruitment, including working with academic departments, marketing staff, and Student Support Services staff on all campuses.  S/he maintains close working relationships with area high schools, community groups, businesses, and other institutions as appropriate to recruit students to attend Guilford Tech.  Local travel required for presentations, meetings, career fairs and college fairs.
Duties/Functions
  • Create working relationship with area high schools.  Conduct information sessions, classroom visits, assist with college application week and other recruiting activities.
  • Work with Basic Skills and Workforce Development Departments to create pathway for students to transition to curriculum programs.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, administration, and the general public.
  • Design and deliver presentations highlighting GTCC’s course offerings in person and virtually.
  • Collaborate with marketing to insure timely delivery of recruiting materials.
  • Use superior customer service skills in all areas, both internally and externally
  • Participate in campus wide programs to support the College and Student Support Services as a whole
  • Work effectively with traditional, non-traditional, and multicultural post-secondary students and prospective students
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork
  • Participate in national, regional and state professional development initiatives to improve knowledge and skill base.  
Difficult Challenges
  • Local travel including nigh and weekend programs.
  • Keeping up to date on all college programs and staying versed in all areas of student services.
  • Providing equal service in person or at a distance.
Contacts
  •  Daily: Perspective Students/families, Admissions Director and Admissions Staff

  •  Several Times a week: Staff and Faculty from other departments
  •  Monthly: Adult Basic Ed and Workforce Development
Education Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution  
Education Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling or related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution 
Experience Required
  •  A minimum of two years experience within a higher education environment.
  •  Experience working with diverse students including first generation college students, students from under-represented populations, and students transitioning from adult high school programs. 
Experience Preferred KSA Required
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of College Admissions and student success initiatives.
  •  Ability to utilize data to assess practices and effectiveness of programs
  •  Knowledge of current and emergent practices in higher education which facilitate student success.
  • Strong computer skills. 
  • Strong public speaking skills
KSA Preferred
  •  Knowledge of Microsoft and Colleague
  •  Exhibited skill in interpersonal relations, verbal and written communications.
  •  Presentation skills including public speaking, virtual presentations and presentation design/development.
  •  Knowledge of community college practices and philosophy.

  • The following (compliance) training is required and must be completed within the first 30 days of hire with annual refresher training thereafter:

         ·         Anti-Discrimination/Harassment & Title IX
         ·         Other training may be required as determined applicable.
