Facilitates movement of patients to appropriate and alternate levels of care as needed and has the authority to facilitate the opening of transitional beds/unit in order to maximize patient throughput and ease excess capacity. This also includes patient access, transfer center and system wide coordination. Takes physician orders and completes admission assessments and other admission activities in times of unusually high activity. Maximizes patient throughput and access by working with Nursing divisions, Surgical areas and ED to adequately plan for admissions and discharges. Assures adequate staffing in all areas of the hospital and ensures that staffing changes are implemented quickly. Manages fluctuations in patient census utilizing productivity targets, staffing grids and appropriate resources. Promotes Relationship Based Care and models the UH essential behaviors during all interactions with patients, physicians and employees. Critical care, supervisory or Emergency Department experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated competence as a clinical practitioner. Demonstrated leadership, management and human relations skills required. Proven knowledge of insurance, hospital and professional regulations is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills, physician relations experience strongly preferred. Extensive troubleshooting, resolution & follow up on high profile issues required. Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills. Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Information technology skills required.

Education.

Associated degree / Diploma RN required.  Bachelor of Science in nursing or Master in Nursing (MN) from accredited program preferred

 

Required Credentials, License, and / or Certifications.

Registered nurse with current Ohio license. ACLS BLS Certification

 

Experience & Knowledge:

3 years clinical nursing experience required.  Critical care, supervisory or Emergency Department experience strongly preferred.  Demonstrated competence as a clinical practitioner.  Demonstrated leadership, management and human relations skills required.  Proven knowledge of insurance, hospital and professional regulations is preferred

 

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:

Excellent interpersonal skills, physician relations experience strongly preferred.  Extensive troubleshooting, resolution & follow up on high profile issues required.

For External Candidates:  Sign on Bonus $8K:  $4K after 90 days, $4K after one year employment

Location:  Ashland

Shift: 36 hrs/wk Nights and weekends
