Principal Accountabilities:
• In addition to working foreman duties (described in a separate position description), performs the following:
• Communicates with Operations Manager:
o reviews and assigns daily crew assignments, work orders and schedules.
o provides support for the coordination of new construction and interpretation of the staking sheets.
o keeps Operations Manager informed of work in progress,
o advises Operations Manager of personnel matters that require review or action,
o initiates or suggests plans to achieve work goals,
o provides information necessary for maintaining the mapping system,
o recommends any necessary repairs or replacements to Operations Manager,
o completes, assists with or delegates related paperwork and reports, insures completion in an accurate, neat and timely manner,
o recommends where improvements can be made in practices, procedures, and methods,
o makes recommendations for annual work program and budget.
o provides support and documentation for pre-job and post-job work evaluations.
o reviews and validates crew hours and activities for payroll and work order processing.
• Provides job-site supervision and leadership of assigned personnel for training, guidance, and direction of work activities:
o plans work to best utilize workers, materials, and transportation equipment,
o interprets staking sheets to workers, and assigns duties,
o conducts tailgate briefing before start of work,
o inspects working conditions and monitors methods of operation for compliance with all applicable regulations,
o establishes or adjusts work assignments to meet construction and maintenance schedules,
o interprets Cooperative policies to workers and enforces Cooperative’s safety regulations,
o assists with day-to-day training, development and evaluation of apprentice linemen and other subordinates as required, provides on-the-job training as necessary,
o analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems,
o ensures proper care, use and storage of cooperative vehicles, equipment, tools and materials.
o reviews and approves distribution switching orders as needed.
o other duties as assigned by Manager of Operations or General Manager.
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of:
o entire electrical system including location of lines, voltage levels, sources of power, direction of feeders, metering points, sectionalizing points, etc.,
o YVEA policies and operating procedures, line specifications, safety procedures, electrical codes and other rules and regulations pertaining to daily work.
• Provides member service:
o helps to resolve member concerns in a timely and professional manner
o promotes and presents a positive professional image to the public when performing duties,
o cooperates with all other departments of the Association.
