Job Summary | The Senior Vice President for Health Sciences Research Unit (SVPHS Research Unit) at University of Utah Health seeks a Senior Manager (Research Development Associate III) to organize, and oversee all administrative aspects of the Data Exploration and Learning for Precision Health Intelligence (DELPHI) Data Science Initiative. The goal of the DELPHI Initiative is to catalyze interdisciplinary data-science driven research to drive innovation in health and medicine. The Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in the strategic planning and execution of the DELPHI Initiative. This includes developing and implementing a wide range of strategic, proactive, and capacity building activities designed to enable and enhance data science research that includes strategic research advancement, communication of research and research opportunities, enhancement of collaboration and team science, proposal development, and nurturing alliances between and among faculty at the U of U and funding agencies. A key function of this position is to work with stakeholders to develop program proposals, budgets (including a schedule for obtaining external support), goals, and implementation plans for review by health sciences center leadership. The individual in this position will be expected to operate independently to achieve program outcomes. In addition, this individual will contribute to emerging and ongoing SVPHS Research Unit initiatives and administrative responsibilities. The Senior Manager will be a part of the Research Program Development Team in the SVPHS Research Unit which oversees the development and implementation of key research strategic initiatives including the Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center, the Immunology, Inflammation, and Infectious Diseases Initiative, the Center for Genomic Medicine, the Digital Health Initiative, and the Center for Medical Cannabis Research. The Senior Manager will report to the Director of Research Program Development and will work alongside the DELPHI Co-Directors and Steering Committee to lead the initiative. This position is eligible for telework in a hybrid telework & in-person environment.

Minimum Qualifications | Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree + four years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. |
Preferences | 1. MS or PhD degree (life-science or computational field preferred) 2. Two or more years of highly relevant program development experience 3. University experience 4.
