The Biologic Infusion Coordinator is responsible for working with a team to coordinate care of pediatric patients inflammatory bowel disease receiving biologic medications, with specific duties as follows:

 

  1. Responsible for completing the authorization process for specific biologic medications to treat inflammatory bowel disease
  2. Responsible for tracking time to authorization and overcoming barriers associated with the authorization process
  3. Responsible for tracking all biologic medications used to treat inflammatory bowel disease across the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, which includes, but is not exclusive to, type of medication used, associated therapies, and location of treatment
  4. Responsible for coordination of care with the pediatric gastroenterology nurses to ensure seamless care across the institution  
  5. Responsible for assisting an analyst or biostatistician to produce data tables and figures for reports
  6. Responsible for interfacing with community partners on patients receiving home infusions
  7. Work in collaboration with physicians, nurses, hospital leadership, and stakeholders at the local, state, and national levels to accomplish the department goals

Performs other duties as delegated and trained by the department

Education/Expertise:

Associate’s degree required, Bachelor Degree preferred

 

Required Credentials, License and/or Certifications:

 

 

Experience & Knowledge:

  • 3-5 years experience in a health care setting preferred
  • Competency with the use of Microsoft Office needed
  • Prior experience with medication authorization preferred

 

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results both independently and working with a team
  • Experience working in a fast-paced office and adapting to changing priorities on a deadline
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the hospital
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with individuals at all levels of an organization
