The Town of Schodack is seeking applicants for a FT Building Inspector. This is a provisional position pending passing the next available Civil Service test. Required knowledge includes practices, principles, materials and tools used in building construction and knowing the requirements of the NYS Fire Prevention and Building & Zoning code. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: review and approval of plans with applications for building permits and inspecting existing structures and those under construction. Also investigates complaints of Building code violations and serves notices of code violations. Qualifications include either graduation from a regionally accredited New York State college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or graduation from High School and (5) years’ experience as a building contractor or journeyman level trade worker. Schodack residency is preferred. EOE.
