Classification and Pay: Rail Facilities Custodian Lead / Grade 174
Per the union contract, shift differential is paid to those working second and third shifts. Shift pay is +5%($1.55) for second shift and +7.5% ($2.32) for third shift, on top of the hourly base pay of $30.94.
Work Schedule
This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. The work week is normally 40 hours and is typically day shift, but is subject to other shifts as operational needs grow. This role is considered an essential position at Rail and is required to report to work during adverse weather and may need to work extended shifts with overtime during adverse weather or other emergent events. Work shift is subject to change and you may work a schedule of 5/8s or other schedules depending on a seniority-based pick system. Applicants should be willing to work 2nd (swing) or 3rd (graveyard) shifts if required.
Work Location: Work will typically be assigned to one of two Rail Facilities (or any future locations) : Operations and Maintenance Facility – Central: 3407 Airport Way S, Seattle
Union Membership: This position is represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Local 587.
Selection Process: Applications will be screened to determine whether candidates meet minimum qualifications, and for clarity, completeness, and responsiveness to the application instructions above. The most competitive candidates may be invited to participate in a skills assessment test. This recruitment is planning on at least one panel interview, and applicants must pass the skills test with a satisfactory score to be eligible to interview. Employment offers will be finalized only after candidates have successfully completed physical examinations, reference checks, and a driving abstract review.
Testing Information:
There will be an office skills test for this position that will be completed in-person . Candidates will have 30 minutes to complete the test. This test will involve the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and an internet browser. Only applicants with satisfactory test scores will be considered to be eligible for an interview.
