Job Summary:

Position Description

The Mechanical Engineer Mechanism ’s primary responsibilities include providing design and development, and release of Interior Mechanisms. From concept to launch, the Mechanical Engineer will have expertise in coordinating the design of the parts; providing structural analysis, managing all engineering changes as Customer request or testing demands; engage in the tooling process and piolet builds, and feasibility analysis. The Mechanical Engineer will be involved with cost/weight/investment and performance validation, as well as supporting design calculations. The position will support the local and abroad engineering to develop the advanced interior mechanisms demanded by the evolving automotive industry. Position reports to the Engineering Leader.

Position Responsibilities 

• Design of Interior Mechanism

• Drawing and Drafting, rough sketching of initial concepts.

• Drafting and Intro to Design.

• Understanding of basic Statics and Dynamics.

• Taking Art to Part, moving the sketches into CAD designs.

• Creating CAD assembly level models.

• Kinematic Analysis – evaluating assembly level design ensuring all components work and move together.

• Finite element analysis and/or Computational fluid dynamics Analysis

• Support the customer, manufacturing and quality in the launch of new programs.

• Support manufacturing and quality in the resolution of customer concerns.

• Responsibilities include all, but are not limited to only, those listed above.

• Support and maintain compliance of TS 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.

• Follows all safety, housekeeping and company policies and procedures.

• Coordinates and maintains all job responsibilities in a continuous and flexible manner and performs other related duties and job assignments as required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master’s Degree Preferred. Minimum of ten to fifteen years of experience working in the Automotive Product Design. Experience in design six sigma (DFSS) during design, validation and or launch of products. Experience with the development of specifications, DFMEA’s DVP&R’s and other technical documents. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be skilled in NX, Catia, including their Kinematic & FEA Packages, one CFD & Meshing package, and competent PC skills (i.e. Windows, Excel, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Projects and Outlook.
