Class Description

The marketing promotions copywriter will be integral to the marketing and communications team by developing relevant and engaging copy for print collateral, web/digital, social media, email and advertising in a style and tone that conveys college-wide branding with a focus on recruitment, enrollment and retention. 

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, CommunicationsJournalism, English or a related field and three (3) years experience in marketing promotional copywriting, content creation and editing.  Knowledge of AP style preferred and understanding of marketing strategy preferred. Candidates selected for interviews will be required to submit writing samples.  

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Develop and maintain processes, tools, and strategies for the development and execution of marketing promotional copywriting projects. 

  1. Ensure and adhere to a task-and deadline-driven workflow by completing the appropriate scope and sequence of work within the timeline required at each phase. 

  1. Problem solves to create high-quality, compelling promotional copy across multiple platforms maintaining AP and college standard guidelines.  

  1. Ensure all marketing promotional copy is consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice 

  1. Coordinate marketing promotional copywriting needs with the enrollment marketing, communications, creative services and web/digital strategy teams to produce original and adapted copy that is clear, compelling and credible. 

  1. Assist upper management in developing policies and procedures; monitors compliance with policies and procedures. 

  1. Maintains department records and files, as required. 

  1. Conduct and attend meetings, as required. 

  1. Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested. 

  1. Write compelling marketing promotional copy for collateral, advertising, web/digital, email, social media and other mediums as needed based on college brand messages, communication goals and audience research. 

  1. Proofread and edit promotional marketing communications to ensure proper grammar, spelling and punctuation as well as adherence to College style guide. 

  1. Develop creative and effective marketing messages to reach targeted markets. 

  1. Collaborate with Communications, Creative Services and Digital Marketing/Web Team to integrate promotional copy for priority programs and initiatives.

The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors:  TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc.  Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature.  Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms.
Parking
Free. Must obtain a parking permit from the Department of Public Safety to use on all campuses.
