Job Description:

The Art Department at Westfield State University seeks applications for part-time instructors. This particular job posting is an "Open Pool" position. There may or may not be available openings at this time however, when an opening does occur, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants that we have on file on an as-needed basis.

The Part-Time Faculty Pool is open to qualified and competent experts, external to the University faculty who possess skills, education and experience in  an academic and/or professional area.  All part-time faculty are responsible for providing our students with a high quality learning environment. Responsibilities include instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes; instructional preparation; assessment of student performance, including submission of final grades in a timely fashion; availability to students by appointment when mutually convenient; course syllabus; a limited number of faculty meetings.

General Statement of Duties:
The Art Department seeks applications for part-time faculty to teach courses to support our department's mission. We seek applications for part time faculty in Studio Art for fall 2020 and spring 2021.

COURSES AVAILABLE FOR FALL 2020:
Sculpture 1 on Tuesday and Thursday at 8:15-11:00 am and  3D Animation and 2D Animation classes

NOTE: We seek to develop a pool of instructors to fulfill possible future needs for the following courses

Studio Art Instructors to teach animation classes, illustration classes, drawing classes, design fundamentals, and along with other traditional fine art studio classes. (There are no specific studio instructor positions available for the Fall semester 2020 other than the two listed above.)

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Teach course(s) in specific discipline
  • Responsible for instructional preparation and assessment of student performance
  • Provide assistance to students by appointment


Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned Bachelor's Degree in Animation, Illustration or Studio Art; collegiate teaching experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

  • A demonstrated commitment to promoting domestic diversity and/or global multiculturalism in the curriculum where appropriate.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to complete an initial series of COVID vaccination (2 doses of Pfizer/Moderna or 1 dose of J&J) prior to coming to campus.
