Summary: 

Performs a variety of technical procedures in the use of CT (Computerized Axial Tomography) scanning equipment in the diagnosis of diseases in humans. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 Contributes to patient safety by:

a. Providing a safe environment for patients.

b. Reporting safety concerns, errors and near misses.

c. Participating in system improvement initiatives to prevent errors.

d. Providing evidence-based care as applicable to the role.

1. Performs a variety of technical procedures by:

a. Operating the necessary equipment to obtain optimum detail and diagnostic quality images.

b. Producing sectional scans of organs in the body required in the various procedures.

c. Developing scans by automatic processing and reconstructing image on a computer.

d. Performing daily safety, quality control and visual maintenance checks on equipment.

e. Following Radiation Safety practices.

2. Prepares patient, attempts to lessen discomfort, and prepares requested procedure(s).

3. Transfers images to PACS system or other VNA/media.

4. Assists physician in biopsies and other diagnostic procedures.

5. Administers drugs and contrast agents as required per examination following defined policies.

6. Performs other routine duties such as:

a. Answering telephones.

b. Obtaining records and information as needed.

c. Maintaining records of patients and daily procedures.

d. Determining quality of scans and recording them on film and computer tape.

e. Maintaining and supplying the area.

f. Transporting and assisting patients as needed.

g. Administering first aid/CPR in emergency situations and initiating code procedures as needed.

7. Maintains appropriate communications to insure proper standards for patient examinations.

8. Keeps abreast of medical terminology and anatomy.

9. May be required to rotate to all shifts or provide on-call coverage as assigned.

10. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Registered Radiology Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

ARRT CT credential or obtains within one year of employment.

Valid Ohio Radiographer License.

BLS Certification or obtains within the standard probationary period.

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Registered Radiology Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). ARRT CT credential or obtains within one year of employment. Valid Ohio Radiographer License. BLS Certification or obtains within the standard probationary period.

Preferred:
One year related experience, as well as advanced certification through the ARRT in CT.Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to lift, pull or push over 50 lbs. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
