Looking for Cannabis Distribution Jobs

There are five main steps in the cannabis supply chain. They include cultivation, manufacturing, testing, distribution, and retail. Distribution is one of the essential parts of the business. Today, cannabis products are typically distributed by third-party channels across the nation. And there are plenty of cannabis distribution jobs from testing to packaging products. If you are looking for a distribution position, you’ve come to the right place.

Cannabis Job Opportunities in Distribution

From logistics to transportation to sales, there are plenty of opportunities in the distribution field. Although distribution jobs can be demanding at times, they are rather rewarding. You are part of a team that helps get cannabis products to customers efficiently, and there’s ample satisfaction knowing that. Here are some of the most popular distribution jobs in the space:

  • Director of Distribution
  • Dispatch Manager
  • Delivery Manager
  • Delivery Driver

In the past year, each of these jobs had a median salary average increase of around 3%. If you have experience in distribution, you will have a better chance of securing a distribution position in cannabis. Highlight your supply chain experience and distributor intelligence in your resume.

Transportation and Distribution Licenses

There are two types of distribution licenses in cannabis: Type 11 and Type 13.

A type 13 license allows you to carry out the transportation of cannabis products between licensed cultivators, manufacturers, and distributors. But it doesn’t allow you to transport cannabis goods to retailers, save for immature plants and seeds.

With a type 11 license, you can transport cannabis plants and products between cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, and retail locations. You must also set up testing of cannabis and carry out quality assurance for compliance with all packaging and labeling standards. A type 11 license also makes you eligible to offer storage services to other licensees.

Qualifications for a Distribution Center

The qualifications to work in a distribution center depends on the position. For example, pickers and packers need a high school diploma or GED. However, some cannabis companies will not always consider that necessary. Management distribution positions need experience in logistics and tracking software. Reliable leadership skills are also a big plus. The team focuses on tracking orders, entering data, and upholding the efficiency and logistics of the facility. There are also jobs within a distribution center that aren’t directly aligned with the supply chain process. For example, you can work as an accountant or security guard at a facility.
