Physical Therapist Neurology Resident-Physical Therapy

Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER

Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: 700-700

Summary: 

Summary:
Works under the general supervision of the Program Director and provides services in accordance with the laws and rules, standards of practice, scope of practice, clinical guidelines, and codes of ethics published by respective national professional associations, that govern the practice of physical therapy in the state of Ohio; and MHMC policies and procedures governing the work of licensed clinical professionals. Patients may include neonates through the geriatric population. Demonstrates positive, effective interactions with staff, patient/guest relations along with formulating and meeting developmental goals.

Required:
Master’s Degree, or post-graduate certificate in Physical Therapy from a school accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Physical Therapist licensure in the State of Ohio.
Possesses current BLS certification or obtains within 90 days of hire.
Ability to travel to satellite locations.
Communicates clearly with all members of the health care team.
Documentation completion prior to exiting the building.

Preferred:
Membership in the APTA and OPTA.
Possess a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling during ambulation and/or gait training; frequently climb stairs or ramps with patients.
Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm or leg during exercise program.
Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient’s pulse.
Visual acuity to observe patient’s gross movement, gait, etc., in order to analyze biomechanical problems.
Ability to hear or understand patient’s description of symptoms and response to treatment.
Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families who may not be able to read.
Maintain attention to tasks, concentrate, depth perception, and visual field for patient treatment tasks/safety

Frequently (25-75% of the time) performed tasks
Standing, sitting with and without back support, walking, reaching (overhead, forward, lateral, and low), crouching, kneeling, crawling, balancing, lifting 5-25 pounds, carrying up to pounds or less, and pushing/pulling up to 80 pounds. Lift and support weight of 80+ lbs. (e.g. transferring patients from one surface to another)

Occasionally (5-25% of the time) performed tasks
Stooping, climbing, lifting or moving 24-50 pounds, carrying 10-25 pounds, and operating power tools and machinery
