Bighorn Mining, LTD in Hinton Alberta, Canada is hiring for the following position:

Electrical Engineer Based in Hinton, Alberta, this is a true "Greenfield" operation with substantial upward mobility for the right Electrical Engineering professional. The ideal candidate will be capable of coordinating with other surface coal mining departments, such as mine planning, maintenance and operations.

The candidate shall be self-motivated and must have good communication, good writing and organizational skills. The job will require field work on the construction and mine worksites.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with contractors the design, development, and installation of a new 138kV/25 kV substation and 25 kV distribution lines for the mine site power systems Work with Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, and Operations on budgets and special projects; responsible to ensure necessary technical support is on site when necessary.

• Establish preventative and predictive maintenance programs for a Greenfield operation with emphasis in power distribution, plant, and conveyor belt systems.

• Develop and implement maintenance programs for electrical, mechanical and mining equipment to assure maximum operating efficiency while maintaining compliance with company safety standards.

• Contribute to the company profitability by developing, implementing and monitoring an efficient maintenance management program, completing projects in a timely, accurate and professional manner.

• Keep necessary maintenance records to update and enhance the preventive maintenance program.

• Monitor preventive maintenance programs and recommend improvements.

• Continually evaluate cost effectiveness.

• Contribute to overall operational efficiency by overseeing maintenance needs assessments and facilitating communications between mining operations and company management with regard to meeting identified needs.

• Develop a maintenance safety program for the operating complex. Attention to safety will be first priority in developing policies and procedures.

• Review, approve and participate in the development of new and updated schedules, cost forecasts and budgets for the maintenance department.

• Responsible for analyzing departmental budget cost variance reporting, and design and implement specific cost control measures to manage budget compliance.

• Ensure annual maintenance costs are at or below forecast costs while improving equipment availability.

• Develop and maintain a proactive business relationship with all vendors.

• Take immediate action in emergency cases, including injuries and equipment breakdown, and report these actions in a timely manner.

Education/ Skill Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.

• Ten to fifteen years of experience related to maintenance of electrical and surface mining equipment is required.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in predictive and preventive maintenance systems, and will be computer literate.

A background in projects, power distribution, coal preparation plants, and conveyor belt systems is preferred.
