Position Description
The Department of Interior Architecture at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, to commence in the Fall semester of 2024.
The appointed faculty member be responsible for delivering undergraduate and graduate instruction across a broad spectrum of areas in the CIDA-accredited Master of Interior Architecture program. These may include design studio, professional practice, sustainability, building technology, design foundations, construction documents, construction methods and materials/ finishes, and/ or computer software.
Beyond classroom teaching, the position encompasses significant service contributions to support the department's mission. These may include assisting with the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) accreditation process, actively participating in curriculum meetings, and representing the department's standards and goals. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain active involvement with industry and relevant professional associations to enhance our students’ educational experiences and raise the profile of the program in the professional community.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a professional graduate degree in interior architecture/design or a related discipline. Required qualifications include proven experience in university teaching, and a record of relevant professional achievements in the field. Preference will be given to candidates with NCIDQ certification or those in the process of acquiring it, and LEED AP certification. The ideal candidate will bring perspectives that contribute to the breadth and depth of discourse in interior architecture.Top of Form

The FIU School of Architecture (SOA), established as Miami's first public school of architecture, is housed in the acclaimed Paul L. Cejas School of Architecture Building, designed by Bernard Tschumi. This building incorporates state-of-the-art facilities like the Fabrication; Robotics + Digital Fabrication; and Structural + Environmental Technologies Labs.
