Summary

WHO MAY APPLY:  Current King County employees and the public.  If filled internally, it will be as a special duty assignment.

The Sheriff’s Office has an opportunity for a Special Duty / Term-Limited Temporary Administrative Specialist IV assignment in the City of SeaTac Police Department under the Patrol Operations Division.  However, pending any transfer requests, the position could be located at another worksite.

This assignment is expected to last approximately 6-9 months.

The primary role and responsibilities for this classification include performing a wide variety of administrative duties that are specialized and/or technical in nature and performed under limited supervision while supporting the goals and embodying the values of the King County Sheriff’s Office.  

Job Duties


•    Provide excellent customer service and assistance to the public in person and over the phone.
•    Provide specialized and/or technical information and advice that requires interpretation of established policies, procedures and other relevant sources to internal and/or external customers over the telephone, in writing and/or in person.
•    Generate responses to questions when necessary and provide relevant information by researching and interpreting Sheriff's Office and City of SeaTac policies and procedures.
•    Direct inquires, take messages, route and screen calls, as appropriate.
•    Maintain and organize scheduling including meetings and events for Command Staff.
•    Make preparations for meeting rooms and coordinate meetings with organizers and attendees.
•    Gather, organize and prepare data for meetings and reports.
•    Type, edit and proofread correspondence drafted by the Command Staff.
•    Convey the Command Staff’s directions and instructions to staff.
•    Organize, update, and maintain files for staff including electronic and paper files, which may be confidential and sensitive in nature.
•    Maintain common areas, order supplies/equipment as needed.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
It is a hiring requirement that all staff employed by the King County Sheriff’s Office must pass a thorough background investigations process, which includes fingerprinting, criminal history check, reference checks, polygraph test, and other tests as deemed necessary.

WORK SCHEDULE: This full-time position is overtime eligible.  It is based on 40-hour workweek, and typical hours for this position are 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  Additional hours may be necessary to respond to workload needs, which may include evenings.
