Summary

Seattle & King County Public Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager position to work across the Community Health Services (CHS) Division. The purpose of CHS is to assure that basic health and human services are available to the most vulnerable people in King County. CHS provides direct services through its Public Health Center system as well as assures access to quality services through partnerships and regional programs. This position will provide essential nursing leadership for CHS clinical services. The purpose of this position is to assure implementation of nursing standards of care and practices related to the delivery of quality services across clinical services delivered by CHS. This includes but is not limited to adopting standard workflows in Epic Care, the department's electronic health record. This position will take responsible for facilitating the identification, prioritization, and processing of needed changes to Epic Care related to care team practices. The focus of the work is to assure the delivery of high-quality nursing services across multiple programs and within the context of Epic Care.

Job Duties
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and the Quality Manager for oversight of the clinical practice and health care services provided by nursing and other healthcare practitioners in primary care.
  • Work closely with the department's electronic health record team and primary care program and other clinical program leadership to optimize the utilization of our electronic health record.
  • Assure compliance with established health care provider standards including quality assurance and quality control standards.
  • Lead the effort to plan, execute and/or assure staff training and development for nurses and medical assistants in collaboration with all care team members.
  • Implement standard work across clinical care teams that meets required evidence-based competencies for clinical staff.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and design/implement improvements in collaboration with care teams and clinical leadership.
  • Develop mechanisms for supervisors to assess individual staff competencies and to assess competency integration into practice.
  • Develop effective working relationships across the department and with our external grant partners to achieve grant deliverables.
  • Manage and directly supervise clinical staff within the division's float pool.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, public health principles and practices, infectious disease management, control and safety standards, occupational health and safety hazards, and applicable health care laws, regulations and procedures Knowledge of supervision, human resources and quality improvement principles and techniques
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals with varying opinions and work on a number of tasks simultaneously with changing priorities
  • Ability to manage the provision of health care services, identify community health needs and adjust service to better meet these needs.
  • Ability to manage the provision of health care services, identify population-based health needs
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent (oral and written) communications skills• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in principles and practices of continuous quality improvement
  • Ability to apply principles and practices of adult learning
  • Demonstrated time management, organizational, and prioritization skills • Ability to provide constructive feedback regarding performance
  • Working knowledge of electronic health records, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel programs and other relevant software programs/learning management systems
  • Advanced knowledge of nursing theory and current clinical practice skills
Licensing, Certification and Other Requirements:
  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse license
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing science or a graduate level nursing degree of MSN, DNP or PhD from an approved Washington State Nursing Commission accredited school of nursing
  • Must hold a current and valid health care provider basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Washington State Driver's License or the ability to provide transportation to work locations with limited or no public transportation services may be required.

Work Schedule: Typical schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is exempt and not overtime eligible. May work outside of typical schedule to meet operational needs.
