Greets patients, families and visitors in a courteous manner. Registers the patient in the Soarian application. Verifies and updates demographic data, Advance directive data and insurance information. Ensures insurance eligibility.  Collects co-pays and payments for outstanding balances.  Discusses status and accounts with patients. Prepares forms for patient’s appointments and assists patients and families in completion of the forms. Confirms patients care team and pharmacy in the AEMR.  Scans and files the forms into the AEMR. Runs reports out of Soarian to confirm all needed patient information is captured. Encourages patients to use the Patient Portal and assists with the portal registration process. Prepares forms for patients to complete in the waiting room. Explains policies and procedures to patients, families, and visitors as needed.  Listens courteously and responds to patient questions, concerns, and/or refers to the appropriate individual.Answers and screens incoming telephone calls, takes accurate and thorough messages.  Promptly triages emergency telephone calls. Enters and managers tasks for providers and office staff. Schedules procedures, follow up appointments and referrals. Provide documentation for school and work notes.  Uses the Rev Spring application to send appointment reminders and monitor reminder responses. Maintains office cash balance and prepares deposits. Calls patients to remind them of appointments, and follows up on missed appointments.Keeps work area and the waiting areas neat and organized.  Prepares out-going mail.  Distributes incoming mail. Manages faxes and distributes them to the appropriate individual.

Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and at least one year of related experience. Three or more years of similar or related experience preferred.  Must have excellent interpersonal/relational and communication skills. Excellent phone skills. Computer literacy is a must with 40 WPM typing ability. Medical Terminology is preferred. Knowledge/recognition of different insurance plan types. Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.  Knowledge of office equipment; printers, fax machines, and scanners.
