Job Summary

Responsible for both day to day and long-term implementation of fitness programming at assigned fitness/wellness facility. Will assess member's fitness needs, develop an appropriate personalized fitness and healthy lifestyle plan and advocate, guide, and assist them in achieving their goals. Participate/lead special programs, events, classes and provide overall staff coverage for the fitness areas. Will work with others within assigned entity to organize, operate and retain special programs in the fitness area for all members. With their degrees and certifications, will also be well-qualified to serve as certified personal trainers and group fitness instructors to provide a medically based program specifically needed for the Medical Fitness Association certification.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts a variety of new member assessments (stress tests, body composition, flexibility, strength for fitness, health risk assessment, etc.) in order to evaluate and develop an individualized personal fitness plan. Subsequenlty provides personal instruction as appropriate to the member's health and fitness status. Answers member questions and inquiries regarding fitness and training. Demonstrates the correct exercise form and procedure on all types of equipment to ensure member safety.
  • Demonstrates independent judgment in decision making based in field of expertise ensuring member effectively navigates available and appropriate services and programs from assessment to milestone accomplishments. Documents member progress as appropriate.
  • Utilizes available technology (eg. Jonas, Dartfish, etc.) in order to orient new members on safe, appropriate implementation of the developed exercise prescription and offer other fitness opportunities.
  • Collaborates with appropriate medical professionals to reference/refer medical questions and to co-casemanage more complex medical cases. Collaborates with other health professionals and team members to provide the maximum health outcome and experience for members.
  • Promotes personal training and other related fitness services to members and guests. Partners with other facility staff on delegated special projects, outreach, events and material/project/class or program development.
  • Works closely with leadership teams to train and orient all new staff and interns, supports coworkers as appropriate and called upon.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance, cleaning/care and monitoring of all equipment to ensure safe working order, communicating with appropriate staff if equipment is malfunctioning or safe usage is in question.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree - Exercise science (Required)
  • Skills/knowledge/abilities typically gained in less than two years experience in a high volume health and fitness facility which incorporates the use of technology (Required)
  • CRT-Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Certified (CEP) - ACSM American College of Sports Medicine (Required within 30 days)
  • CRT-Personal Trainer - ACSM American College of Sports Medicine (Required within 30 days)
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association OR CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross (Required within 60 days)
