ASRC Federal Field Services, a Subsidiary of ASRC Federal Holding Company, is currently seeking a Part-time Accountant at the Plum Island Animal Disease Research Center, located on Plum Island, NY. (1.5 nautical miles off North Fork of Long Island & 6 nautical miles off coast of Old Saybrook, CT). Marine transportation furnished.
Summary:
Serve as staff accountant to handle, prepare, compute, manage, research and analyze all accounting data, in order to provide quantitative information on performance, financial position, solvency, liquidity and cash flows of our business. Assist in tracking of expenditures, plan budgets and forecast variances. Work collaboratively with business office tasked with overall financial responsibility for Government contract expenditures.
Roles/Responsibilities:
Maintains or oversees the maintenance of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income. Examines assigned accounting documents to verify accuracy of computations and uniform application of policies, procedures and acceptable accounting standards. Reviews and verifies accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records. Prepares income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and other accounting statements and reports. May design, modify, install, and/or maintain general accounting systems to provide records of assets, liabilities, and financial statements. Additional duties may include:
- Manage all accounting operations based on accounting principles
- Prepare budget and financial forecasts
- Publish financial statements in time
- Conduct month-end and year-end close process
- Collect, analyze and summarize account information
- Account reconciliations
- Develop periodic reports for management
- Audit financial transactions and document accounting control procedures

- Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- 5 years of experience with general ledger and sub ledgers
- Strong general accounting and analytic skills and a thorough understanding of general ledger operations.
- Professional Certification Preferred - CPA, CMA, CFA, CIA, etc.
- Knowledge of Cost Point ERP Software package (Deltek) a plus
- Understanding of Internal Controls
- Government contracting experience is preferred
- Some familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) is preferred
- Advanced MS Excel and Access is required
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Gov't security clearance.
