Interviews incoming patients/representatives in person or by phone and collects demographic and financial data.  Ensures that all required data is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.  Enters information received in person, by phone or fax for admission into computer database.  Verifies insurance benefits and obtains pre-authorizations, referrals and/or pre-certifications when applicable.  Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments.  Floats to assigned registration area which may change from day-to-day based on department needs. High School diploma or GED with 6 months- 1 year experience in patient registration or a fast paced office setting.
