Metro Transit’s Employee Services division has an amazing Special Duty Assignment (SDA) or Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) opportunity for a creative OHD (Organizational Health and Development) Special Projects Manager I! This position will be a part of Employee Services’ Organizational Health and Development (OHD) Section. It will report directly to the Section Manager and collaborate closely with the Learning & Development team.
The OHD Special Projects Manager I will be responsible for leading and managing external consultant projects to ensure delivery and continuous development of Metro-wide learning programs. These programs are designed to allow employees the ability to develop and thrive, while ensuring a culture of well-being and belonging is fostered. This position will lead projects sponsored by members of Metro’s Strategic Leadership Team. The role and responsibilities include project management, writing reports and presenting outcomes to leaders, and providing overall leadership and guidance on the projects’ direction to consultants and supporting staff. This role requires managing tight timeframes and supporting consultants to develop programs that introduce healthy workplace concepts and support shifting cultural norms.
Metro Transit is King County’s largest Department, employing over 5,000 people who primarily work in the field of transit operations, vehicle maintenance, transit facilities operations, and marine.
This recruitment will be used to fill one OHD Special Projects Manager I position for an 18-month Special Duty Assignment or Term-Limited Temporary position with the possibility of an extension. This recruitment also creates an eligibility pool to fill future career service positions, term-limited temporary vacancies, and/or special duty assignments that may occur in the next 12 months at the discretion of the hiring authority.

Minimum of five years' managing projects, experience designing curricula, coordinating programs, facilitating intergroup training or education courses; OR any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant: with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the work.

Work Schedule
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay. Work schedule is normally Monday through Friday, 40-hour work week. Variations may be required depending on the needs of the work.
Teleworking Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly by teleworking; complemented with onsite work and meetings as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual,
safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
