JOB SUMMARY: Continually works on new designs; iterate designs through sketches, prototypes and renderings, communication with customers, manufacturing and regularly presenting design work to decision makers. Develops products from concept to production within given budget and timelines. Collaborate with marketing teams for photo shoots and user interface requirements.

  • Creative development of products and ideas based on innovation and keeping pace with new technologies and trends in the marketplace.
  • Artistic with the ability to produce both hand and electronic sketches to communicate with the engineering team, customer, suppliers and manufacturing.
  • The candidate must have strong experience with identifying relevant customer, cultural, and commercial insights and translating these insights into compelling design solutions.
  • Partners with internal and external marketing and design groups to research and analyze design trends and customer feedback for incorporation into product enhancements, new product design and overall design language and strategy
  • Communication and the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely to large groups of people, executives, marketing, customers and suppliers.
  • Collaboration with all facets of product development to allow all of the inputs from all stakeholders to be accounted for and reviewed in the design.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to solve them rapidly during the design and development process.


OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Able to fabricate, build and test prototype concepts.
  • Minimal travel required to customer, supplier and manufacturing sites.
    Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in industrial design and five years progressive experience in design or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
  • Ability to write routine presentations reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, engineers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to operate a computer and use spreadsheet, database, word-processing, CAD, 3-D and solid modeling software.
  • Physical consumer goods design experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of common manufacturing methods with electronics, injection molding, casting, sheet metal, etc. highly preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, talk, hear, and see. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or reach with hands and arms. The environment is fast-paced; time pressured, and requires accuracy. The employee will regularly multi-task between projects, be required to move throughout the office building, and effectively communicate. The normal environment is quiet and typical of an open cubical setting with some areas that may be louder at times.
