The role is directly responsible for leading the project scope definition, kickoff, design, construct, test, deployment and closing stages of multiple medium to large scale healthcare information technology projects.  Adhering to all PMI project management methodologies, including Waterfall and or Agile.

  • Leads multiple IT&S projects and programs with:
    • Complex objectives and activities
    • Teams comprised of 20 – 30+, matrixed, resources from multi-areas of an organization
    • Budgets ranging from $50K to multimillion dollar efforts
    • Vendors providing services, applications, hardware, and other components
    • Internal services and development teams working on various efforts throughout the system
  • Manages and builds customer relationships at the Clinical Chair, Director, and Vice President, Senior Vice President, and Senior Executive level.
  • Maintains updated knowledge of and uses different project management methodologies, tools, and approaches.
  • Maintains expertise in 2 - 3 project disciplines (e.g., process workflow documentation & redesign, system testing).
  • Leads vendors through contracting process and provides input to Senior Leadership on negotiation points. 
  • Plans and scopes all project phases and components. 
  • Prepares and delivers both written and oral presentations to provide overview of project status, issues and the like.
  • Coaches and mentors project team members and other project managers. 
  • Ensures that projects are delivered on time, on scope and on budget.  
  • Responsible for all project reporting and KPIs to all project sponsors.
  • Creates and documents all needed project plans and artifacts in Workfront, the project management tool that University Hospitals utilizes.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Required Credentials, License, and / or Certifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
  • Agile / Scrum certification preferred.
  • EPIC Project Management certification preferred.
  • ITIL certification preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • 7+ years IT project management experience required.
  • 3+ years experience working in healthcare environment preferred.
  • 3+ years managing enterprise projects in a healthcare environment that is on EPIC EHR required.
  • Experience with software development, new software implementations, vendor management preferred.
  • High standards of integrity, strong personal work ethic, creative problem solving skills, and flexible work approach required.
  • Notable client service, communication, presentation and relationship building skills required. 
  • Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment required
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Required to have advanced organizational skills in regards to categorizing large bodies of varied information, plans, notes, documents.

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:

  • Skilled in the suite of Microsoft Office tools (Power Point, Excel, Word, and Visio) required.
