Benefit Specialist provides HR functional support to designated benefit plans system wide and is an employee advocate, acting as the functional expert and assists with driving the support of employee benefits at a successful level. Works within the scope of generalist activity such as policy administration, employee relations, plan management, regulatory & legal compliance, & employee training in a collaborative, team based environment. Provides support for: health, dental, vision, pension, profit sharing, top hat, clinic retirement plan(s), life, & disability.

Benefit Administration:

* Manages benefit plan eligibility/enrollment, claims questions, premiums and system changes related to HRP (Human Resources Payroll & Benefits System)
* Processes administrative duties related to accounting, banking, and TPAs for all active and non-active employee's
* Provide change information to TPA, payroll and others as needed

Customer Service & Liaison:

* Assist employees with benefit questions/concerns/problems
* Handle team member concerns & questions regarding benefits, vac/pto, sick time, and leaves of absence related to benefit administration
* Ensures timely and courteous resolution of inquiries/issues/problems
* Educates employees on NMHS benefit plans during new employee orientation (NEO)
* Serves as a liaison between ACCLAIM, Business Office, physician offices, and employees
Communication:
* Ensures timely distribution of legal documents related to plan enrollment and participation such as COBRA & QDRO's
* Processes State and Federal orders of coverage related to child support and MOHCs

Reporting/Recordkeeping:

* Prepares statistical reporting in relation to employee and benefit data
* Supports and provides data for compliance reporting
* Responsible for enrollment records, invoices and various reporting to administer benefit plans
* Works closely with TPA's, auditors, director and administrator to maintain plan compliance
* Generates various reports as needed.

Regulation:

* Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
* Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues

Requirements:

* Associates Degree in Business, Management, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent business experience and education required, Bachelor's preferred
* Minimum of 3 year's benefit administration experience in an HR setting preferred
* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook); required
* Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills; required
* Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; customer service & interpersonal skills; required
* Working knowledge with payroll and benefits systems; preferred
