The Solid Waste Division (SWD) of the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks is inviting applications for (1) Capital Project Manager III (Career Service) and (2) a Capital Project Manager III (Term Limited Temporary). The Term Limited Temporary (TLT) position is available for eligible King County employees as a special duty assignment. These positions provide an opportunity for a talented leader, team-builder, and communicator to serve the public and the environment of King County. The Capital Project Manager III position resides within SWD’s Project Management Office. We seek candidates committed to providing leadership in successful planning, implementation, monitoring, and control of major capital projects that span months to several years, with budgets ranging from less than $1 million to over $100 million. The person in this position will work independently with limited general day-to-day oversight as well as work closely with senior project managers to plan, design, and implement project management plans and construction management plans to complete major capital projects. Projects may include landfill area development and closure, recycling and transfer stations, and operational enhancements. The position requires competencies in project management; contract administration; schedule development and analysis; cost estimating/analysis; performance monitoring and reporting); advanced project risk management; communication and leading project teams. Permanent Teleworking Requirement: The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly by telecommuting, with occasional onsite work and meetings, as influenced by business needs. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.
