Job Description Summary
During the Academic Year (September to Early June) & Summer Six-Week Component (Mid June to Early August), Upward Bound Tutors will work with UB instructors in academic areas and lead/supervise students during cultural, recreational and social activities.

During the summer, you must be available for student field trips that may require overnight stay or staff coverage. For the overnight field trip, which occurs, one or more times during the summer component, tutors are responsible to chaperone students on a 24-hour basis.
Minimum Qualifications
# High school diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled (College sophomore, junior or senior) or completed education at the college level preferred.
# Twelve to Eighteen months related experience and/or prior advisor experience.
# Previous experience working with high school youth.
# Must be able to show proof of completing at least one of the listed courses below obtained from an accredited college or university with a grade of “A” or “B”. Copy of transcripts required with application.
# Applicant must have a strong academic focus in one or more of the following subject areas: English, Math, Science, Foreign Language, Technology or Careers

Job Requirements
# Tutors are responsible for students during their assigned work shifts between 8:00am–4:00pm, Monday through Friday (Summer)
and 8:00 am – 3:00 pm on Academic Saturdays, with possible additional hours including during specific evening and weekend activities. Work schedule subject to change based on department needs.
# Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written Standard English.
# As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U. S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work in the U.S.
