Cost Accountant
Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits’ Stamford office currently seeks a Cost Accounting Analyst who possesses the below qualifications.
The Cost Accounting Analyst is primarily responsible for developing/maintaining the company’s cost accounting system, production cost data and standard cost variance analysis, cost reporting and planning and other ad-hoc projects, as requested.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Bottlings/Finished Goods Cost Analysis, specifically actual vs. standard cost analysis and variance reporting by bottling for all production brands
Coordinate with Cost Accountant to develop annual budgeted costs for production SKUs and monitor actual activity closely and provide data for latest estimate (LE) purposes
Issuances of material purchase orders and tracking open material and bulk purchases
Responsible for Barrel Accounting process, monitoring barrel sales, and depreciation projections for wine barrels
Responsible for the monthly Borrowing Base whiskey and wine inventory reporting data
Maintain clear tracking of actual freight costs for production brands
Prepare month-end journal entries to record monthly costing activity until JDE cost accounting system is implemented
Coordinate with Cost Accountant for the initial system set up of inventory locations, items, bills of material, and routings in new JDE system
Develop and communicate the process for ongoing production data creation in JDE
Insure all balance sheet accounts relative to production ingredients, dry goods, whiskey and wine inventories are reconciled monthly and open items resolved in a timely manner
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
5 years’ manufacturing costs accounting experience required, preferably in a production capacity with a co-packer model
Standard and Actual cost accounting experience required
Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Cost Accounting Standards
Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data
Knowledge of JDE system desirable
Alcoholic beverage industry background a plus
CMA designation beneficial
Other Skills and Abilities:
This position requires strong interpersonal skills, superior attention to detail, the ability to work well in cross-functional teams, thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ability to work independently. Advanced computer skills are a necessity, specifically MS Excel.
