Role Purpose:

To work within a Purchasing environment, fulfilling customer orders to leading Global Academic Institutions and other educational establishments. To be part of a team liaising with publishers and distributors to proactively maintain series records and fulfil customer orders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To establish and maintain print standing orders with publishers and distributors
  • To purchase on a timely basis (upon publication) series titles where standing orders cannot be established with suppliers
  • To research, set-up and maintain series records on the database
  • Manage the end-to-end process of buying series titles including handling the books on receipt and profiling
  • Liaising with colleagues from various teams on orders and updates
  • Chasing open purchase orders and updating systems as necessary

 

Job Specific Competencies (Experience and Knowledge):

Essential:

  • PC literate with an understanding of Microsoft (Word, Excel and Access)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to a high level
  • Attention to detail, working in a logical, methodical manner

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of working within a purchasing or supply chain management environment
  • Experience of working with publishers, wholesalers and agents
  • Knowledge of one or more European languages (German, French, Spanish, Italian) desirable
  • Knowledge of bibliographic data and cataloguing
  • Degree level education (or equivalent)
