Position Objectives:

The City of Lamar is accepting applications for an Emergency Service Communicator in the E-911 Dispatch Center. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Schedule:  Graveyard 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Under general supervision is responsible for receiving all calls to Communications Center, analyzing the calls, and determining the appropriate need for response.  He/she notifies law enforcement, fire, and/or ambulance personnel or requests for service and follows through on all responses.  Performs work that varies somewhat but is performed within prescribed standards.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicant must be able to perform the following minimum functions:  Speak clearly and hear at a level to adequately use emergency dispatching equipment.  Be able to use a computer terminal and keyboard and type proficiently.  Read from and write to daily logs and reports.  Minimal movement about office but needs enough mobility to use all necessary equipment.

Desirable Training and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
