Mifflinburg Area School District’s programs are open and available to all students. The district does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, national and ethnic origin, disability or political affiliation in administering its educational policies and programs. Mifflinburg Area School District is committed to ensuring that all educational programs and personnel actions, promotion, demotion, transfer, furlough, compensation, benefits, training and social recreational programs, are administered without regard to race, color, gender (except where gender is a bona fide occupational qualification), disability, political affiliation or status as a disabled veteran. In compliance with state and federal law, the district will provide to each protected handicapped student without discrimination or cost to the student or family, those related aids, services or accommodations needed to provide equal opportunity to participate in and obtain the benefits of the school program and extracurricular activities to the maximum extent appropriate to the student’s abilities. To qualify as a protected handicapped student, the child must be of school age with a physical or mental disability that substantially limits or prohibits participation in or access to an aspect of the school program. These services and protections for “protected handicapped students” are distinct from those applicable to all eligible or exceptional students enrolled (or seeking enrollment) in special education programs.

For further information on evaluation procedures and services for protected handicapped students or inquiries or complaints concerning possible discrimination, contact Margaret Leedy, affirmative action coordinator, at Mifflinburg Intermediate School, 250 Mabel Street, Mifflinburg, PA 17844, 966-8280.
