Project Controls Engineer

We are a full-service engineering company that specializes in industrial machine and control system design as well as custom material handling fabrication and installation services.

Job Description:


A Fort Smith Area company is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to support its Systems and Machinery Engineering Group. This position will support controls/mechanical machine design with emphasis on the control systems.

Key Responsibilities:


Electrical projects:

- Review project requirements and scheduling with customers.

- Design control panels to perform industrial controls functions per the customer's specifications outlined in the bid proposal. This includes complete panel layout and wiring diagrams. Drawings for each project will be generated using AutoCAD software.

- Procurement of components and materials

- Supervise fabrication of control panels per the drawings.

- Review electrical installation of control systems with field electricians.

- Supervise field installation of control systems per the drawings.

- Program Development of PLC’s, HMI’s and configuring other control system components.

- Complete testing, debug, and startup of system installation to the satisfaction of the customer.

Mechanical projects:

- Generate mechanical designs for industrial machinery, including tooling for existing machinery, retrofits, and complete new machines per the specifications outlined in the bid proposal.

- Generate mechanical assembly and detail drawings for machinery in Solidworks format.

- Procurement of components and materials

- Perform shop runoff, supervise installation, and field test equipment to the satisfaction of the customer.

Qualifications:


Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field

Required Skills:


· Ability to work in a team-oriented, multi-disciplinary environment

· Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects

· Good communication skills

· Proficiency in two-dimensional drafting software such as AutoCAD

· Some experience with three-dimensional modeling software such as SolidWorks

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

· Some experience with Microsoft Project and Microsoft PowerPoint

· PLC and HMI Programming, Rockwell Automation preferred

The applicant must become proficient in the use of Rockwell Automation.
