Shift: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Summary: 

Completes a variety of Trauma Registry tasks, including data collection, data entry and retrieval, data quality and integrity, data analysis, and display and statistical conversion. Obtains, abstracts, and enters appropriate concurrent and retrospective patient data on trauma and burn patient databases. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.


Qualifications:

Required: 

High School graduate or passage of a high school equivalency exam. 

Attends one of the following within 12 months of hire: 

• American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registrar Course. 

• Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s Injury Scaling Course. 

• An equivalent state-provided trauma course. 

Knowledge of medical terminology including anatomy and/or physiology. 

Strong PC skills, including strong typing skills. 

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 

Ability to work independently or as a member of a team. 

Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. 


Preferred: 

Current Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). 

Experience with ICD-10 coding. 

Experience with EPIC Systems. 

Experience with data registry input. 


Physical Requirements: 

May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
