Job Description
The Department of Mining and Explosives Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) in Rolla, Missouri is seeking outstanding applicants for a non-tenure-track (NTT) research faculty position in the area of Critical Minerals to start January 2024. Preference will be given to applicants with significant expertise in mineral processing: Comminution Processes Modeling and Control. The workload for this NTT position is 80% research and 20% teaching. The position will be at the assistant research professor rank.
Successful candidates will be expected to have strong commitments to (a) contributing to the departmental, college, and university research efforts in the area of Critical Minerals, and (b) high-quality teaching both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants should have demonstrated excellence in research and evidence of potential for excellence in external funding and high-quality teaching. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
This position will reside in Missouri S&T’s Department of Mining and Explosives Engineering, home of one of the nation’s largest Mining Engineering programs and the nation’s only Explosives Engineering program. Missouri S&T has a long history of minerals education having started as the Missouri School of Mines & Metallurgy and continues to be committed to mining engineering education. The department has over 165 undergraduate and graduate students on campus and in our expanding distance programs. The department operates a 19-acre experimental mine located 1.5 miles from campus and an Energetics Research Institute. The department attracts research funding from diverse sources including the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs, the Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health, and the Alpha Foundation. The Department has strong industry partners, and its students are highly recruited with nearly 100% placement rates for graduates.
