Summary

• Number of Beds: 22 (8 Beds for Epilepsy Monitoring Unit- 14 for Primary Stroke)
  • Private or Shared: Private
• Patient Ratio for RNs:
  • Days: 4-5
  • Nights:5- 6
• Population (types of patients):
• The primary populations served include adult patients (18 years and older) with stroke and epilepsy. Secondary populations include new onset seizures, general neurology, and medical surgical patients.

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree Nursing Required
• Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing must be obtained within 5 years for those who start in this RN role on or after January 1, 2017 - SHGR Required
• Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing must be obtained within 7 years for those who start in this RN role between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2016 - SHGR Required
• Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program Required
• NURSING\Registered Nurse (RN) State of Michigan Upon Hire Required
• LIFE SUPPORT\Basic Life Support (BLS) 90 Days Required
• CLINICAL\Clinical Area of Specialty Certification Preferred
