East Stroudsburg University’s Art + Media + Design
Department is looking for a Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor in
Animation. Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of
Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides
convenient access to professional markets, careers, and social activities. Just
minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware
Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for
recreational fun.
ESU's Art + Media + Design Department offers BFA, BA, and BS
degrees that prepare students for successful creative careers in various
disciplines. The department is looking to welcome a new faculty member
specializing in animation who is dedicated and prepared to guide the concentration into the future. The successful candidate will be involved in program planning and continuous
program improvement, collaborating with department faculty in curriculum
implementation, professional development, and student support. Courses to be
taught include foundations, 2D animation, 3D animation, 3D modeling, motion graphics, and interactive game design. Experience and a vision
for interdisciplinary collaboration and work that spans multiple domains
(contemporary art, film, theater, television, gaming, immersive media,
projection building mapping) is a plus.
The Art + Media + Design Department is located at three campus locations: Fine and Performing Arts Center, McGarry TV Studio,
and Rosenkrans. We have several state-of-the-art spaces and studios, with high-end facilities. Every location
has updated and advanced Alienware, Windows,
and Mac computer labs installed with industry-standard software. East
Stroudsburg University proudly presents cutting-edge TV studios, a 3D printing
lab with metal and full-color printing capabilities, and a 2-level art gallery. In addition, all studios
including those dedicated to
product design, illustration, drawing, ceramics, painting, graphic design, AR/VR,
and photography. In addition, all faculty have access to several internal funding sources to support professional practice (travel, research,
projects).
Qualifications
- Applicant should possess an MFA or higher
in Animation or a related field. Prior university teaching experience and
real-world client-based professional design
experience are preferred.
- Applicant should possess industry software skills in 3D
modeling, interactive design, and 2D/3D Digital Animation and knowledge of Unity, Unreal Engine, Adobe
Creative Suites, Blender, and Autodesk-related software such as Maya. This
position requires 3D industry experience and practical and
formal knowledge of production workflow. Experience in modeling,
animation, texture painting or compositing, and traditional art skills are
necessary. We encourage practice across all media and technology using diverse
materials in the visual arts, incorporating new and emerging areas of art
making, which supports our forward-looking curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Teaching experience at the collegiate
level is preferred.
- Experience in or knowledge of related
professions.
- Academic and professional credentials to
teach in a specific discipline.
